Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Use with Caution
There is a lot of great information in this book. However, there is also quite a bit of nutritional misinformation to go with it. So I found myself having to double-check any recommendation I didn't already know about with another source which somewhat defeats the purpose of buying the book. That said I'm a complete kitchen klutz so having a book that explains exactly how to shop for, prepare and freeze each food is very helpful.

I'd just be very, very careful about using the exact diet as recommended for a baby under 1 year without consulting with your pediatrician first. For example, in order to avoid the "evil" meat, the book recommends introducing nuts, seeds & soy into the baby's diet from a pretty early age. These foods are all high allergen foods and really are not any better for a small baby than some pureed chicken. The book also recommends liver powder -- but organ meats are high in toxins. It also recommends cottage cheese starting at 6 months but cottage cheese has all the same problems as cow's milk and should not be given until you are ready to start straight cow's milk.

So in some senses I think the "cure" (a diet full of allergy-causing foods) is worse than the "disease" (eating meat once in a while).

The book is also not very bfing friendly... if you push solids in the amounts recommended here and as early as recommended here, you could easily have supply problems or your baby could self-wean by 9-10 months.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - RESPONSIBLE PARENTS: READ THIS BOOK!
Wow! This book is a gem for new parents, thoroughly packed with information on feeding your child a balanced and nutritious diet that he or she deserves! Yaron explains in detail when to introduce foods, how to prepare them and most of all how to enhance each meal so that every bite of food aids in a baby's optimal development. Even if her method is not followed completely, I consider this book to be a road map for the hefty job of nourishing a child....especially in a world where we are bombarded with misleading ad campaigns and artificial foods which promise the best for our children! It is so easy in this era of civilization to forget that the human race flourished before the introduction of processed and jarred baby food! Yaron empowers us, explaining how easy and simple it is to prepare baby food ourselves. I meet many mothers who strongly disagree with me about the processed vs. grinding food dilemma, but I am convinced that I am sending my child down a healthy path thanks to the things I have learned in the Super Baby Food book.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great book for How am I suppose to do THIS?!? (feed baby!)
This is a great book that helps out with exactly how, when and what to feed baby from first solid food on. The book offers a very detailed step-by-step approach, month by month. Ruth Yaron is very good about explaining how easy, nutritious and economical it really is to make your own baby's food. I recommend this book constantly in my New Moms group and Toddler group as well. I tell everyone to pass it by their pediatrician, which they do, and everyone has always given it a 'thumbs up'! Ruth Yaron is very conscientious about food sensitivities and helps you know what are the common foods that cause sensitivities and how to avoid trouble in the first place. The book keeps going with nutritional recipes, baby-safe cleaners and more. She is relatively "anti meat," and can be perceived as a little "granola-crunchy," but her methods for helping with first timers are very helpful and help you get started on the right foot. We took what we liked out of this book (which was a lot) and left the rest (we eat meat!) :)
