Average Rating:
Rating: - a new incarnation of a great game
Yes, I remember when this game first came out and how great I thought it was. Yeah, the music is "classic Mario," and Mario 64 has now opened a new dimension for our favorite plummer brother, but this game still rocks. The color is nice, and I still find several of the levels to be just as challenging as when I first started playing (oh so many years ago). I think "Tubular" is still up on my top 5 list of fun (and super challenging) levels in the land of Mario for all time. So, my recommendation -- get this game as it will provide hours of fun. And remember, those red levels are the ones with multiple exits so enjoy searching for more ways to finish the levels. And if you are considering buying GBA, get it now. It is super light, fits right in a pocket, the playing time is superb, and there are tons of great games out there!! Enjoy!
Rating: - A brilliantly remade classic!
Like Kirby's Dreamland, I often played this game on my friend's NES. When Gameboy Advance came out, I got the console ASAP along with this game. It was so cute-a great introduction to the GBA for any age. In this game you play as either Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, or Mario. Each character has their own unique abilities-Peach can fly breifly by using her dress, Toad has super strength, Luigi can jump very high, and Mario has balanced abilities. You try to pass through different worlds while listening to the familiar Mario tune and sound effects, including voices assigned to each character. I couldn't put it down! Nintendo is doing a fantastic job with the remakes! *If you liked Super Mario World, you might want to try the newly released remake, Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land!
Rating: - Mario at his best.
All right, after reading the various reviews posted for this game, I decided it would be beneficial for a review to be posted that is a little more detailed. So, here is why Super Mario World is such a good game. Picture the time this game was released, back when NES was the big thing and there were not any graphically impressive games. Then Nintendo releases Super Nintendo and this game. The response was tremendous. Graphics were bright and somewhat dimensional, the game was expansive with hidden areas. The same holds true for this GBA version of the game. All the 75 or so areas are there, the multiple colored yoshis in the star world to be found and used, the now classic power ups. Mario can get a cape that allows him to fly, on his own or with yoshi. I won't bother saying everything, for there is no need. Suffice it to say that this game is definately worth getting. Nostalgia aside, it is an excellent game.
