Average Rating: Rating: - Fabulous directorial debut from the Matrix boys "Bound" surprises the viewer from start to finish with plot twist upon turn - it's a great movie. It'll grab your attention right from the start with two passionate scenes between Jennifer Tilly & Gina Gershon, and then things really get rolling. Joey Pants (as folks seem to call him in the biz) plays a middle-managment gangster who borders on the pathetic; his attitude is definitely much bigger than he is. After a collection operation gone a bit awry, Violet (Tilly) and Corky (Gershon) hatch a plan to make off with more than two million dollars of the mafia's money. The plan is simple enough, but naturally is doesn't go off exactly as planned; blood is shed, there's a lot of running around and screaming, cover-up is laid upon cover-up, and some pruning shears come into play more than once. This is great film noir, and everyone is cast perfectly. The brothers do an excellent job of direction, with novel angles and shooting methods (you wouldn't expect anything less from these guys, would you?) They also employ some classic film noir sequences that work perfectly. It should hold your attention throughout, very enjoyably. Rating: - Brilliant caper film!! " Bound " is an outstanding caper film that features tons of twists, turns, and close calls. It delivers tons of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is also an intelliegent film that is very well laid out. The film flows brilliantly and leaves no loose ends. The story revolves around a mobster named Caesar ( Joe Pantoliano), his mistress Violet (Jennifer Tilly), and a tough female ex con named Corky ( Gina Gershon). Corky moves into the same building as Caesar and Violet. The two women eventually become attracted to each other and then become lovers. They derive a flawless plan to steal 2 million bucks of the mob's money and leave the blame on Caesar. The script is outstanding and really provides for tons of enjoyable dialogue from the actors. The performances given by Pantoliano, Tilly, and Gershon are all incredible, and I gurantee that you will like them all. Watching the two women work together in and out of the bedroom, really provides for a film that brings the crime genre to a whole new level. The DVD does offer the unrated version of the film, as well as commentary from the directors (Wachowski Brothers) , and the stars ( Pantoliano, Tilly, and Gershon). It is highly affordable as well. The film itself, and the nice DVD make " Bound" a must own for any DVD collection. A+ - Ryan Deffley Rating: - Knotted And Kinky BOUND tells the twisted tale of a Mobster (Joe Pantiliano), his mistress Violet (Jennifer Tilly), her lover Corky (Gina Gershon), and 2 Million dollars of the Mob's money. The film was written and dircted by the Wachowski Brothers, who also brought us THE MATRIX, is a winner from start to finish.From its twists and turns, to its bold use of sexuality, and its humor, the film is hard to classify into a genre. It is a mob movie, for sure, but it's also could be a thriller, or comedy caper. The first time I saw BOUND, I had no idea how it was going to end up, or who would ultimately come out on top. Pantiliano doesn't disappoint as your "typical" Mafia man. Tilly and Gershon certainly make for an interesting couple, but as with most things in life, it all really comes down to the money. Perfectly paced and directed with a tilted style, the movie is sure to leave any viewer satisfied, and guessing till the end. The DVD with the unrated cut of the film takes things a bit further than the theatrical version did. The DVD also features a fun commentary track with cast members and filmmakers. Everyone offers some cool trivia and info about the film. The only other extra on the disc is the trailer. Don't let the film's lack of classification throw you. BOUND is sure to excite any and all who see it Highly Recommended. Special Edition anyone...?
