Average Rating: Rating: - Don't drive wearing headphones - iRock could SAVE YOUR LIFE! I see many commuters wearing headphones - I myself was one of these. My car has a CD/AM/FM stereo, and my little mp3 player is how I listen to audiobooks. I kept buying different headphones, driving with one headphone on, etc., trying to strike a balance between audio quality and SAFE DRIVING. My bride gave me the iRock for Christmas, and it works GREAT. You have 4 FM frequencies to choose from in the 88 range, so you can find the setting that works best. I have found that it will even mask a storng signal from a chosen frequency and play the Irock-enabled audio. I would give this 5 stars, but it comes with NO instructions, and the package does not indicate battery requirement, although 2 AAA's are needed. It is pretty easy to figure out: Tune the radio, swith the iRock to the matching frequency, press the button (the only button) on the iRock and listen as the static stops. Turn on your mp3 player or what have you - and go! ONE TIP: Turn the voume down on your car stereo until you eliminate any static, and then adjust volume on your iRock-enabled device to your liking - this eliminates most static and gives the clearest sound. DON'T DRIVE WEARING HEADPHONES - The iRock is WAAAAY cheaper than a traffic ticket or hospital bill. Rating: - Weak power output I bought this unit to use with an MP3 player. It has four different frequencies to choose from (88.1/88.3/88.5/88.7 MHz) and uses two AAA batteries. It simply plugs into the headphone mini stereo jack with a very short cable and has a simple power on/off button with LED indicator. I found that for my car stereo to receive the signal from the Irock! it needs to sit within 2-3 feet of the antenna. This requirement leaves me only one choice for placement and that is on the passenger side dash. Unfortunately the placement means that every time I turn a corner the Irock! and my MP3 player slide across, and often off, my dash. If I had a car with the antenna in the back this would have been useless. The low power of this unit allows even very distant FM channels to interfere with reception and causes me to retune to one of the other channel selections often. Also I expected longer battery life, while I can get up to 6 hours on a set of batteries I find that the power output drops quickly after the first 2 hours and requires new batteries or the 2-3 foot antenna distance drops further. While usable I would not recommend it to any one traveling where there is a possibility of moderate to strong FM in the units operating frequency range. Rating: - Won't be returning this gadget I bought the Irock wireless music adapter expecting to return it the next day. I figured it wouldn't meet my expectations but I love any new electronic gadget, and what the heck Radio Shack has a 30 return policy, so I bought it. Well it more than met my expectations. The salesman told me it has to be close to the radio in order for it to work. That's true in my car where I have a cheap radio, but in my wifes car, where she has a better quality radio, it works great. In my house I can walk through most of the house and still get great sound from my home stereo. The Irock music adapter will work as good as the stereo your using it with. Also make sure you have fresh batteries in it. I perfer Alkaline batteries over re-chargables. I love this thing and will not be returning. I even convinced my brother to buy one.
