Average Rating: Rating: - We like it! We were interested in purchasing a new coffee maker to replace the leaking one. [A reviewer} rated this coffee maker the Best overall for ease of use thus rating #1 on their report. We then read many of the reviews here before making the final decision to buy. Now that we own this coffee maker we found that we are really satisfied. The coffee does indeed taste very good. We especially like being able to control the hot plate temperature. Programming wasn't as difficult as [they] and others have said. Simply hold in a button for a couple of seconds for the feature you want to set. Once the light starts flashing use the "H" & "M" buttons to set the time. Once you do it you'll understand and it's easy to do. We also found that the Gold filter wasn't worth using. Use the #4 paper cone filters instead. It takes about 50 seconds per cup to brew. So four cups only takes about two minutes. Overall we enjoy this coffee maker very much and would recommend it to you. Rating: - What a Great Cup of Coffee! When I decided that I needed a new coffemaker, I looked at my favorite warehouse store and saw expensive machines by Cuisinart and less expensive devices by Mr. Coffee. I did a bit of research and determined that the attractive Cuisinart machines don't brew that good a cup of coffee. The reviews all pointed to the Braun KF187. The coffeemaker arrived from Amazon the other day, and I brewed my first pot yesterday. I was amazed - and surprised. I had no idea that the coffee would be so much better than that to which I was accustomed. The reviewers were right, and I suspect it has to do with delivering the water to the grinds at the optimal temperature. While I have yet to explore the fancy features (automatic brewing, etc.), and don't know how much I care about them, I like being able to set the strength of the coffee and have a say in what temperature the pot stays at. This Braun makes an exceptionally good cup of coffee, and that's what I wanted it for. Rating: - Top notch coffee maker ! I have owned both this Braun and the competing Krups model, and the Braun model is hands down the best. It has a lot of really nice features. I like good, strong coffee and I'm willing to buy really good beans to make it (like Peets, for example). This coffee maker really does good beans justice. Its really fast - much faster than the Krups, for example, but the coffee is fuller and richer tasting. I never really experimented with the coffee strength setting, so I can't say how effective it is. I set it about 2/3 of the way between weak and strong and just left it that way. And the coffee has always been great. I do like the feature where it beeps when the coffee is done - this is nice when you have company for example, and you're chatting away in the next room. You don't have to keep checking to see if the coffee's done. We used the timer feature a few times - its nice, and easy to set up, but the Braun makes a full pot quickly enough that I don't really think you need it. Its also really reliable - we had ours for over 5 years, and moved it with us in three different houses. If only all household appliances were this good and this reliable! It costs a little more than a typical "Mr. Coffee" type maker, but its well worth it. Over the course of many years, the extra cost won't matter. The ease of use and quality of the cup of coffee will make you forget the extra 20 bucks you spent.
