Average Rating: Rating: - Entertainment Weakly If you need to be told what to think by glib, middlebrow writers, then EW is for you. It's an indispensible magazine for those who panic at the thought of not being squarely at the center of conventional wisdom, and who prefer to regurgitate review blurbs rather than say what they themselves think. It's basically a clearinghouse for studio and network press releases, with reviewers who make painfully obvious attempts to second guess public mood so they can calibrate their opinions accordingly. Rating: - Good Fluff With more pictures than words, Entertainment Weekly is one of my favorite reads (using the term loosely) when I'm excited about a new movie that's coming out. The photo spreads are high-quality, and the articles (though often short) are well written and full of fun tidbits. This is the perfect magazine to read at the gym while on the excercise bike. Short enough features so you don't need to spend a great deal of time focusing on the reviews, but intreguing enough to keep you hooked. If you're a movie fan, you really won't be dissapointed by what this magazine has to offer unless you're looking for hardcore film-school commentary. Pick it up, relax and enjoy the glitz and glamor! Rating: - Overly Glossy, but Still Effective When it comes to a trusty weekly guide to entertainment, you can't beat "EW." For all its high gloss, "EW" offers breezy coverage of the entertainment industry. If you want a quick and dirty guide to what's happening in movies, TV, and music, this magazine can't be beat. The reviews can sometimes be off-target. A "B+" review for "Crossroads" the movie AND the DVD? Despite severe lapses of judgement such as the above, "EW" is a nice read and won't look out of place on your coffeetable.
