Average Rating: Rating: - Excellent Product The shiny silver colored dome not only keeps squirrels and rain off your feed, but it also attracts dozens of birds within a few days. After a week I had over 14 species visiting regularly. Before purchasing this feeder, I had a less [costly]tree hanging feeder that did not attract a single bird for months, even though I was using the same bird feed. It did not take long before I had to buy a second baffle though, because the squirrels figured out how to get in. So now the feeder has a top baffle and a bottom baffle (purchased separately) and it seems to be keeping the squirrels off. UPDATE: One year after purchasing this feeder. It is still up and working. I have put it through the dishwasher several times without problems. Squirrels have tried to get in, but have failed every time. Some of the perches broke off, but clinging birds can still feed from those ports. Non-clinging birds can rest on the bottom tray. Rating: - Opus Model #5103 Bird Feeder We will be replacing an existing 5103 feeder that was damaged from a wind storm. We had occasion to contact Opus for warranty replacement of two parts that were miraculously damaged by a squirrel who tite-rope walked a cable, managed to get past an additional baffle we had put up and some how slide down a thin line holding the feeder. Before sliding off the top of the feeder it chewed part of the top. Opus replaced the parts without question. We enjoy a large variety of birds at this feeder. Rating: - Overall, a good feeder. Overall, I would recomend this product. I have a pesky squirel who did find a way up the pole after much studying on it's behalf. He shimmys up the pole, grabs a hold of the botom tray and does a chin up to a gold mine. The bigger birds have a blast dive bombing him though... tis fun to watch. I found a way to combat it through hanging two suet cages from the drain holes in the catch tray. The squirels don't like them swinging, so they don't try it any more. The only other issue I had was cleaning it. If all you want to clean is the tray you are fine. Whatever you do, don't try to take the tubes apart for that womanly clean. Getting them back together is a royal pain, and the perches break out the plastic that holds them. (They have to be removed if you take the tubes apart.) Other than that, this feeder has been so much fun! The birds were flocking to my feeder in less than 5 days. I had probably 20 birds the first day. My two cats love to sit in the window and watch the birds. I go through about 5 lbs of seed every two days, and I must say.... it is easy to fill. By the way, I went to Lowes and picked up a ground feeder. I put in corn, and peanuts for the squirels.... it seems to keep them interested so they don't eat my seed. Squirels are a comedy act of their own.
