Rating: - Foo Fighters Deliver Top-Notch Punk Rock
In the Foo Fighters 1995 self-titled album, there are 12 tracks. Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl (drummer of Nirvana) has made the CD into a collection of sensational, yet bitter, songs. Ranging from an onslaught of fury against Courtney Love (member of punk band 'Hole' and wife of the deceased Kurt Cobain) in "Good Grief" to the impeccable "This Is a Call", it really is tougher than leather sometimes to figure out what Dave is trying to express. But however you look at the lyrics and interpret them, the combination of former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear with ex Sunny Day Real Estate musicians Nate Mendel and William Goldsmith (with additional help from the Afghan Whigs' Greg Dulli) truly deliver top-notch punk rock. Note: If you like this CD, I strongly advise you get "The Colour and the Shape"!
Rating: - GOOD DEBUT CD
I really liked this album by the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl did a great job recording everything for this cd. It shows how much talent he really has. Dave recorded all of the vocals, bass, guitars, and drums. I have every Foo Fighters cd and this is not their best but if you like their work or you liked Nirvana (Dave Grohl's ex band) then definitly get this album. It may not be as good as "The Colour and The Shape" or "There is Nothing Left to Lose" but it is still a wonderful cd. The best songs are This is a Call, I'll Stick Around,Big Me, and Good Grief.
Rating: - Alternative Rock Masterpiece
Dave Grohl is one of the best musicians in the world, and this debut album is proof. I absolutely love the sound of this album with its distortion-heavy guitars and Dave Grohl's intense vocals. The Foo Fighters' other albums are also awesome and have the same sound, but the relatively lower production values on this album actually make it more compelling. When you add in the fact that Dave Grohl did everything on this album - wrote the songs, provided the vocals, played lead and bass guitars, and played drums - you begin to almost become jealous of his talent. Oh well, I guess I'll have to settle for just listening to his killer tunes, which are pretty much all of them. By the way, I heard recently that their fourth album is almost in the recording phase, and that it will be very loud, like this album and most of their second and third. Yes!! God bless Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters! Kurt Cobain would be proud of his friend, I should think.
