Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - a definite step forward
I just grabbed this CD the other day, after hearing "Nice to Know You" on the radio, and I was really impressed. I thought SCIENCE and Make Yourself were both quite good, but I didn't buy Morning View because I'd heard bad things. None of those bad things are true, though, since the album is awesome. "Nice to Know You" and "Blood on the Ground" are both real rockers, and "11am," "Just a Phase," and "Mexico" are all amazing songs that show the lighter side of incubus. It's definitely apparent that Brandon this singer has gone through some trouble with a lady friend, especially because he hasn't talked about women nearly as much as he does on the album. He sings the classic songs of a broken hearted man, however, but gives it the interesting twist that only Incubus can. I can't wait to hear these songs live as soon as I can.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Morning View For You
I didn't like Incubus right away, it took some time for them to grow on me because they're so different. They sound unlike any other band. "Make Yourself" was the album that got me into them. Brandon Boyd's amazing voice and the hard rock riffs got stuck in my head after awhile. So once "Morning View" came out, I went out and bought it. I loved the single "Wish You Were Here", heck, who didn't? But the rest of the album I didn't really care for. I was used to hearing Incubus rock out, but they were a little more mellow on this album. After a couple listens though, I fell in love with this album. They still jam out the hard stuff on songs like "Circles", "Have You Ever?" and "Blood On The Ground". Then, they play some really great slow numbers on tunes like "Mexico", "Warning" and "Echo". Then they go into these really catchy numbers, that aren't really slow OR fast, you'd have to hear them for yourself. I'm referring to songs like "Are You In", "Just A Phase", and "Under My Umbrella". I saw these guys on tour for this album and it was just an amazing show. Although this album is very different from anything they've done before, it's still something that Incubus fans would really like. It has hints of sounds from "Make Yourself", but overall it's pretty different. I would recommend this album to anyone.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Morning View: A New Profound Inspiration On Life
Recorded in a beach house in Southern California, Morning View reflects the sandy shoreline and moving waters through its quiescent yet eloquent atmosphere. Whether labelled as a sellout or a step up in maturity, it is distinctively different from the previous albums. The sound is very harmonious through the significance of acoustics juxtaposed against layers of strings, making this a peaceful and insightful recording. Although Incubus is often portrayed as "just another MTV band" and associated with the "Nu-Metal" crowd, this album has proved that their emotions are genuine and their talents are real.

"Nice To Know You" is an effective introduction to Morning View as heavy riffs are blended evenly with softer melodies. "Circles" is a track which is reminiscent of old Incubus packed with lots of raw energy. However, the intensity of the songs fade out and is soon contradicted with the soothing acoustics of "11 a.m.", "Mexico", and "Echo". "Aqueous Transmission" exhibits utter most tranquility and inner peace through some oriental influences. This new approach indicates both sophistication and musical development on the part of the band. It drags out to 7 minutes, making it thought provoking and less commercial. However, the standout track is clearly "Warning". Brandon's vocals shine when distributed with outstanding lyrics and melodies. This song represents the climax of the album by emphasizing the overall theme to the audience.

Incubus is a band that is both underrated and often misrepresented by the media, being MTV. An extremely talented group of musicians with a gifted vocalist, they are capable of a very successful future. But there are some sections the band should try to improve on, espicially the lyrics. They are at times too simplistic and clash with the music. The choruses also tend to get repetitive frequently shown on "I Wish You Were Here" and "Nice To Know You". Aside from that, they acquire what few bands have today; an important message, and a positive intuition towards life.
