Average Rating: Rating: - don't bother Compared to the Boys' real studio albums like Very, Bilingual, Introspective, Nightlife,etc., this remix cd is trash, pure and simple. Some remixes are good but even those tracks get tiresome fast. If you are a huge PSB fan, then, I guess, this is worth buying. Otherwise, don't bother. If you are new to Pet Shop Boys I recommend buying their greatest hits collection (Discography) or Very. Rating: - Not as bad as some might want to say I don't own a lot of Pet Shop Boys but I have this CD and "Please." Of this CD I'd have to say it's cool they put a bunch of remixes on the same disc, but I agree--the way they put them together is kind of terrible. I don't even know much about DJ skills, but I can tell there was not much skill involved in putting the cuts together. The jump from Absolutely Fabulous to the next song is very rough, but I don't care. Like another person said, it's fun, yes. And that's really what matters. If Pet Shop Boys haven't since said they were embarrassed about this release, then "true" Pet Shop Boys fans who question this release are missing something about their essence, I'd say. It's only logical--the boys are very into this style, and it's one of their ways of expressing it. It's a compilation though, not a cohesive artistic statement. And it appears that they've fallen into the UK (mostly, it seems) trap of doing continuous mixes on CD. I've once heard a heavy metal compilation from the UK where they actually bothered to edit the tracks into a continuous mix(!?!) It was interesting actually. If you don't have a slight liking for dance music, then this CD will likely be uninteresting to you. If you feel DJ skills are important you will not be able to listen to it for long. But if you can find it cheap, it's worth it for the "jump-uppi-ness" of Absolutely Fabulous and the remix that appears after it. The second disc is not so interesting. Cheesy but hey, if it moves you... Rating: - What Have We Done to Deserve This? First off, I absolutely adore the Pet Shop Boys. While mainstream America abandoned them by the start of the 1990s, my loyalty to the group grew stronger, and I have openly praised all of their studio albums. It is therefore with a heavy heart that I report that this remix album, the "sequel" to "Disco," is a disaster! A continuous mix of various remixes, "Disco 2" is a messy affair from start to finish. It's not that the remixes themselves are awful, but the the way they are pieced together on this recording is shameful. To begin, the mixes sound like they're being played at twice the speed: this is particularly noticeable on the remix of "Liberation," David Morales' treatment of "So Hard," and Rollo's remix of "Absolutely Fabulous." Plus, they omitted quite a few good ones: what about MK's remix of "Can You Forgive Her?," "Murk's slammin house treatment of "Liberation," and Morales' re-working of "Where The Streets Have No Name"? I played this CD recently and after 10 minutes, I had to turn it off because it was getting that bad. Unless you're a PSB completist like myself who has to get EVERY release of their catalog, this CD should be avoided.
