Rating: - Feel the Fever Indeed!
Kylie Minogue returns stateside and "Fever" features some of the best pop-dance tunes of her career. The global hit "Can't Get You Out of My Head" is only the beginning with fun being the order of the day and it never stops.Taking its lead from the single the rest of the album is full of topline production and a host of single-ready tunes. Standout tracks include "In Your Eyes," already a number one single in Kylie's native Australia, "Come Into My World" and "Love At First Sight". Also noteworthy is the very interesting "Burning Up" which fluctuates between near-ballad moments and "burning" dancefloor highs. In recent years, Kylie has rediscovered her fun side and has found her point of differentiation from the other pop diva's. The most fun you'll have in 2002...Go KYLIE!
Rating: - Not as Good as "Light Years", but Still Great!
I became a huge Kylie Minogue fan last year. Her 2000 album, "Light Years", blew me away. It was the perfect blend of dance pop and disco, and quickly became one of my favorite CDs in my collection. Kylie hasn't had a hit in the U.S. for a very long time, and, with the release of "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", she has re-established herself and snuck past the velvet rope of America.I was very much looking forward to the release of "Fever". I wasn't disappointed by any means, but the album is a small step down from "Light Years". "Fever" is very similar to "Light Years" in the dance pop and disco sense, but the material is less substantial. Don't get me wrong, because the album is still a blast. The best tracks it's got going for it are "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", the title track, "Give It To Me", "In Your Eyes", and "Burning Up". A very good CD for dance pop and disco fans alike! Kylie Minogue is spectacular!!
Rating: - Forget the Locomotion
For those of you who remember the Kylie Minogue of the 80s, she of "I should be so Lucky" and a terrible cover of "Locomotion", forget her. That Kylie is gone. Dead. This is a new fabulous Kylie. This Kylie has been honing her skills as a disco diva in the gay clubs of London and is ready to burn up the charts in the US. You will not be able to get "Can't Get You Out of My Head" out of your mind. Penned by another long lost 80s gal from the late 80s and early 90s, Cathy Dennis, Can't Get You Out Of My Head, one of those infectious songs that you'll find yourself singing all day long. This modern day Kylie isn't a one-hit wonder either, "Love at First Sight" is an amazing track. "Burning Up" is just that. The US version also has a remix of the amazing "Butterfly" from Kylie's last album, "Light Years". By the time you finish this album you'll start wondering what happened to those other 80s divas, Belinda, Tiffany and Debbie.
