Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Secular pop brings public Christian band
Sixpence None the Richer is a band with OODLES of talent, and hopefully a long and bright future. Pop radio staples "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes" give this band the exposure that it has long deserved since releasing its first independently-released Christian rock album, "The Fatherless and the Widow" in 1993. The new self-titled CD is much more polished than the band's previous two efforts, although the previous title, "This Beautiful Mess" is a bit more consistent. There is an eclectic mix on this new CD, from slow piano numbers (The Lines of My Earth) to catchy pop tunes (Kiss Me, I Can't Catch You), nifty medleys (We Have Forgotten/Anything/The Waiting Room), and just plain cool songs (Sister, Mother). Heck, there's even a fast-paced rocker sung in Spanish (Puedo Escribir). The lyrics are at times deep and spiritual, although you'd never know that by listening to the radio. Leigh Nash's voice has evolved and strengthened since the band's first album, and Matt Slocum's guitar work is as good as ever. I still like Sixpence's second album the best since Slocum really lets loose on that one, never letting up until the final note. Here, there are ebbs and flows as a result of the hodge podge of styles. My most noteworthy comment to fans is this: If you are expecting to find the popular song, "There She Goes" on this CD or even as a single, forget it. Supposedly, a third version of the CD was printed with the song as a bonus 13th track, but it is hard to find (since there are so many of the other versions already made). This I believe is false advertising, and there should be harsh criticism by the public for this unethical practice of selling merchandise that is not really what it appears to be. Not exacly "Christian" in practice, is it?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An alternative pop classic
Sixpence None the Richer is incredible!I listen to a lot of other music styles like alternative, punk, ska, and some metal, but I still love this disc! All you people who think this cd is bad(or "weird")are just mindless people who bought it for "Kiss Me"(fess up,you know exactly who you are),or don't know music when you hear it.Don't get me wrong,I hated "Kiss Me"until I heared the whole album. Now I love it!Every single song is awesome, though two outstanding songs are "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes".The only song I ever skip is "The Lines of My Earth"(which is still a great song). This is on my top ten best "christian" cds list, one of the very few that I will lable "perfect".Dark but uplifting,Sixpence None the Richer is made up of a rich and well textured style of music with rythmic but subtlely grinding guitars coupled with a miriad of other instrements.Their alterna-pop sound can easily compete with a number of bands in the secular music industry.Anyone who loves good music should love this disc.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great cd
I know that Sixpence None the Richer isn't a really well known group, but they're realy cool. Their songs are more quiet and thoughtful.
We Have Forgotten-a really great song with nice music, really relaxing
Anything-pretty good song but not the best on the cd
the Waiting Room-a little strange not one of my favorites
Kiss Me-you've probably heard this before whether you knew it was by SPNTR or not. it's my personal fave
Easy to Ignore-sort of a love story I think, pretty good
Puedo Escribir-i don't know why they bothered with this song,it's
in Spanish.i always skip it
I can't Catch you-a sort of peaceful song with nice music
The lines Of My Earth-i don't like this one to much
Sister Mother-I don't understand it but it's a really nice song
I won't stay long ?
Love ?
Moving on ?

WHAT!?! they changed the cd!! Oh well,I at least know now the first ones are pretty good. I can't believe they changed their first cd! Anyway, I would still reccommend it. :)
