The new Bon Jovi album is a well rounded pop rock record with something for every fan both young and old. After the last two more mellow efforts this album has some rousing arena rockers in Undivided, Hook Me Up, Everyday, and The Distance. There are also the wonderfully corny but heartfelt ballads that you come to expect from Bon Jovi such as All About Loving You, You Had Me From Hello and Open All Night. A nice surprise are some numbers that fall in between. Misunderstood is a tribute to every husband who has ever been in the doghouse. Joey is musically inspired by Elton John and lyrically tells the story of a friendship with someone with a disability that is sweet and touching. Right Side of Wrong, a modern Butch Cassidy story, has a Tom Waits meets Billy Joel feel. This album does have some 9/11 inspired tracks but unlike The Rising which deals with specific stories from the event, songs such as Undivided, Bounce and Everyday speak to the sense of hope and unity that our country felt in those terrible days afterwards and our resiliance and resolve as a nation to live our lives to the fullest and make each moment count. Diehard and casual Bon Jovi fans alike will not be disappointed.

The great thing about Bon Jovi is that as a listener you are rarely disappointed by their releases. Bounce is a terrific rock n roll record period. Easily criticised for being too samey, 20 years on they still challenge the boundaries of rock music and deliver like no other band can.Interestingly enough, a heavier guitar sound appears on this record. Richie's crunching riffs that back really clever melody lines. Sept 11th influence here is obvious on such tracks like "Undivided" and "Bounce" but unlike other bands, Bon Jovi put a positive light on the subject "the get up, get of your ass" attitude that has been the cornerstone of Jon and Richie's writing. The predictable ballad in "All about loving you" is a Bon Jovi staple, they do it well so why not. Other picks are "Hook me up" inspired by an article Jon read about a Palestinianboy looking for a way out. The albums stand out song is "Joey", Elton Johnesque, great story line, a brilliantly writen piece of music, particularly in the interlude, where Richie would normally let rip, they buried the lead behind the strings, the less is more theory worked well here. So nearly 20 years on and Bon Jovi can still rock with the best of them, live, these songs will take on a whole new meaning. So if the Jersey Syndicate hit your town, do yourselves a favour, get a copy of Bounce, grab your girlfriend and two tickets and have yourself a blast for 2 hours with the best live rock n roll band in the world today.

Could it be possible for Bon Jovi to create an album that would debut on the charts higher than any of their other albums? YES!!! BOUNCE is a fabulous collection of songs - it has something for everyone!"Undivided" is extremely strong with crunchy guitars and significant lyrics. "Everyday" is an upbeat and positive song which encourages everyone to live everyday to the fullest. "The Distance" is one of my favorite songs - very positive and motivational - telling us never to give up! "Joey" is a slower paced song which has a great piano opening and inspirational lyrics that remind us that everyone has potential to do great things. "Misunderstood" is a great song for any guy who's been in the doghouse - catchy, clever lyrics with an mid-beat tempo! "All About Loving You" is a classic Bon Jovi ballad. This song is absolutely breathtaking and very romantic. "Hook Me Up" has those crunchy guitars and is a hard rockin' song! "Right Side of Wrong" is not my favorite song on this album, but it's still strong musically. However, the lyrics in the beginning are a little weak and almost corny. It is nice to hear Richie Sambora who is all over this song! "Love Me Back To Life" is another one of my favorites on this album. This is a strong, mid-tempo song which is very powerful lyrically and musically. I can feel the passion in this song when Jon is singing! It really gives me chills! "You Had Me From Hello" is an beautiful, romantic ballad. "Bounce" is an upbeat, rockin' song I can't get enough of!! You will be bouncin' when you hear this one! It kicks butt!!! "Open All Night" is another ballad which is cute but really doesn't do anything for me lyrically. I do like the song, but the lyrics don't stick with me like some of the other songs. While there are some songs that are stonger than others, I still rate this album a 5! It does have something for everyone. And, it is a Bon Jovi album that you won't skip any songs while listening! The band has really outdone themselves with the updated sounds, crunchy guitars, strong lyrics and classic ballads! BOUNCE debuted at #2 (behind Elvis) for a reason... if you don't believe me, buy it and take a listen! You'll be bouncin' all over listening to it!
