Average Rating: Rating: - New Steve Earle album - enough said! Steve Earle's the only artist at the moment who I have to listen to their album the first day it's released. You never quite know what you're going to get, but you can be pretty sure you won't be disappointed. Jerusalem's a brilliant hard rock album. Moody, ornery and downright controversial. Steve's the sort of guy you'd want to back you up in a bar fight, he's not scared, his songs show it. It's not suprising 'John Walker 's Blues' has caused a stir, but the song's not an apology for the guy, it's an explanation. 'Ashes to Ashes' is dark and apocalyptic, 'Amerika V6' and 'Conspiracy Theory' continue the mood, but the driving beat behind the song gives you a feeling that something can be done. My favourite track is 'the Truth'. The banjo takes you to a place where 'The Devil went Down to Georgia' and won. The cold vocals eerily seep into your head like the echo from a prison wall. I can't wait for the next tour. Rating: - One of Steve Earle's Best Steve Earle has written a topical and captivating album in "Jerusalem," perhaps his best since "El Corazon," and better than the excellent "Transcendental Blues" of 2000. Earle clearly feels passionately about the U.S., and he is concerned about what he perceives to be the erosion of our culture and our values and ideals. Earle has received much misunderstood attention for the modest "John Walker's Blues," which is particularly unfortunate since this song has distracted attention from such beauties as "I Remember You,""Amerika v.6.0," and the wonderful title track. The album's arrangements and production perfectly fits the lyrics and tone of the songs, and Earle is in fine voice as well. Earle is a musical treasure in the wasteland that passes for popular music these days, and this album will reward those interested in ideas and craftsmanship. Rating: - Best Album Of The Year!!! I've Always Loved Steve Earle since his record "Copperhead Road" which I grew up listening to. I Dont think I'll be overstating much when I say this is Steve Earle's best Album Yet. Musically It Rocks. The sincere enthusiasm in his lyrics is awsome and inpiring. My two favorite songs are "The Truth' and 'John Walkers Blues' beacuse as with the three first songs they are really relevent right now, I wish our politicians could speak the truth like this. There are a few short comings musically that most wont notice. On the song 'The Truth' the music is pristine (as is most of the record), but on 'The Kind' a really beautiful song, they take away from it a little by using what sounds like a synthesizer organ or something on top, which they would have been better off using a real organ or a acoustic lead guitar maybe. And on 'Amerika v. 6.0' the Song Intro is a little Derivative but that does'nt matter a hoot beacuse the Lyrics Are Awsome!!! So These are little things, and recording studio time is expensive. Even Though as an "Album" - meaning a cohesive work of art where every song is perstine, not unlike 'LA Woman' by The Doors or 'Nevermind' by Nirvana or "Blood On The Tracks' by Bob Dylan - This Album is not... but it comes pretty close. Anyways most people are not looking for that type of "Album", they just want good music... and they'll sure find it here. Sincere Music Lover, California, Amerika v. 6.0
