Average Rating: Rating: - J. Lo's 15 minutes is almost up Jennifer Lopez is one of the best actresses around bar none, I wont argue that, but she is lost in the music world w/o her slew of rappers. "Jenny from da block" is a catchy hit in the vein of I'm real, Aint that funny, but it is tedious and repetitive in that her last 4or5 songs follow the exact same formula, heavy on the rapping little J.Lo herself, its tired and eventually people will get tired with her, the album has a few hits on it but when u get down to the ballads (if you can call them that) you see the true cracks in Jennifer Lopez's game. I would like her to release a ballad and see how successful she is at it. I love Jennifer Lopez the actor, I just hope that when her Music career (notice i said music not singing) is over, it wont bring down her good acting. All in all, skip the cd, if you must quench your temptations, borrow it from a friend, dont waste your money, save some of that christmas money for quality new albums coming out like the new Aaliyah "I care 4 U" Dec 10th, Mariah "Charmbracelet" Dec 3rd and Missy Elliot "Under Construction". Rating: - Not quite what I was hoping to find... I was anticipating hearing all the songs on this CD after I heard Jenny from the Block. Most of the songs on this CD are mushy and good for cuddling with the man next to the fireplace. But if you're looking for a CD filled with rhythm, beat and fun stuff to dance to, keep looking... Rating: - Good songs, bad voice THIS IS ME...THEN is a somewhat of a shocker for J.Lo fans. First, it's nothing like her previous 2 CDs and this time she took more of a mellow/R&B/pop route. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, this type of music doesn't suite Jennifer's voice at all. Her voice is surprisingly extra-high-pitched all over this album. What was she thinking singing this way? The backup singers sound better than her! THIS IS ME...THEN is Jennifer's "love" album. She's in love... blah, blah, blah. Yeah, we hear about it enough in the media. The high points on this CD are: "I'm glad", "the one", "all I have", and "baby I love you!" I almost couldn't stand the way she sang "the one" but the overall song is really well done. "Jenny from the block" is also a good one. Even though it's a bit overplayed it still gets you up. THIS IS ME...THEN is nowhere near as diverse as J.LO or ONE THE 6. There are no Latin or dance tracks to be found. Would've been nice to spice up this otherwise straight-forward collection. THIS IS ME...THEN would've been a stellar CD if someone like Mariah sang these songs. Jennifer just doesn't have the chops to pull of these songs. She should stick to the fast up-tempos and vocal layering like on J.LO. This is a good CD but her vocals almost make you cringe at times. THIS IS ME...THEN still has its shining moments.
