Average Rating: Rating: - The album that started it for me! This is the album that got me hooked on Christian music! I had heard "Friends" and "I Will Be Here for You" on the radio several times, so I decided to buy the album that they came on. I loved it so much that I bought "The First Decade," a few months later, and after that Project, ane before long I had all of them. Great CD with only one dud. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Rating: - Still Going... As an expression of personal opinion, Michael W Smith is to contemporary Christian music what Garth Brooks is to contemporary Country music. For Garth Brooks, it was the single "The Dance." For Michael W Smith, it was the single "Friends." His career beginning in the early 80's, Michael W Smith has been changing lives for over a decade now, with one chart-topping hit after another, covering a wide range of messages. His pace doesn't slow down with this album, maintaining the velocity and coverage that he has kept up and perfected through the years. His messages still vary, speaking to a great variety of people in widely differing positions. He speaks out against the idea that Christianity can be merely worn as a fashion statement or trendy phase in "Cross of Gold" as well as upholding the idea that love isn't love until you "Give It Away." He speaks out against racial discrimination in "Color Blind" and brings back an age-old favourite from years back, "Friends"; softly blowing the dust off it with a pleasantly new rendition. Rating: - Every Song is An Awesome Testiment to faith This is the second album I've listened to of MWS, and I must say that it is another masterpiece of christian music. I'm only 16 years old and am a new follower of Christ and love every song on this album. It was ironic about the son "Cross of Gold" since I wear one myself and got it so I could really show other people the love I had for God. I also loved the song "somebody love me" because I've sometimes struggled with the fact that I am unloved. I would have to say the best song is "Friends" because it brings a tear to my eyes and reminds me of all the great friendships I have with other followers of Christ. I just got back from a Christian camp and the last song they played was "friends" by MWS, and everybody was hugging each other and saying their last goodbyes. I think MWS is the best christian soloist and should be commended on another great album.
