Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - All I see are Craig David lovers...
Yes, Craig David IS talented. Yes, "Fill Me In" IS a good song. But trust me, Craig David should not be the ONLY reason to buy this 2002 Grammy Nominees cd! After all, there are 16 other songs that you can listen to besides "Fill Me In". And anyway, I don't think "Fill Me In" is Craig David's best song. I think his new single, "Walking Away", is much, much better. If you are really a Craig David fan, you should buy his Born To Do It cd and then review how great Craig is on that cd's page! Personally, my favorite song on this cd is "Shape Of My Heart" by the Backstreet Boys. Now this is a song worth owning this cd for! (Sorry, I couldn't help myself and if Craig David fans can review only one song on this cd, shouldn't I be able to, also?) I don't understand why so many people dislike the BSB. Sure, they are pop and not rock, but that doesn't mean that they are bad! Why must so many people think that all pop music is horrible, when really it is not as harmful as it may seem. And yes, most of the pop music is about love - but isn't rock music the same way? Rock is not the only "real" kind of music there is. Pop is "real" too - just a different style, that's all. And I believe that ALL of today's music is manufactured, not just pop music. I think pop artists have to work harder than rock artists because pop artists are less respected and appreciated and they have to do all this stuff to gain respect from the public and critics. They get bashed upon before people even listen to their albums! And pop music is just as meaningful as rock music. And before you label me as a little teenybopper, let me just say that I love all kinds of music including rock and rap. I don't listen to all teen pop music - there's some teen pop music that even I won't listen to (but at least I gave it a chance first before I judge!). All of these songs on this Grammy Nominees complication cd are good, in their own ways. All of them are original. I hope people will open up their minds (and ears) to give pop music a fair chance like all other types of music. Remember, music is meant for entertainment...it's not your life (unless you make music for a living). So enjoy! And don't be crabby or picky about music!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - "Hear the majority of them if you switch on your radio"
Like the Oscars, many argue that the Grammy's are nothing more than a marketing tool to help out manufactured bands gain recognition in the field of music, with bands like The Spice Girls, N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys frequently receiving nods for fields like Best Artist of The Year, despite the fact that no-one can really tell the difference between any of their music. However, the past few years have seen unknown and superb talent receiving the props they deserve, with '70s giant Carlos Santana running away with the majority of the awards two years ago, and U2 grabbing Record and Song of the Year in 2001. This year sees an eclectic mix of hit-and-miss tunes from the Grammy judges (read: old farts), with U2 getting nominated again, and Bob Dylan, Elton John, R.E.M. Alicia Keys and fictional band Soggy Bottom Boys all receiving well-deserved nods. But as soon as we see Michael Jackson's inclusion on this compilation, we know there're going to be some horrible misjudgments - and there are: Craig David, Brian McKnight, Backstreet Boy, Five For Fighting and Nelly Furtado are all integrated into the awards. And, as always, will probably garner undeserved prizes for their useless music, yet again ditching the great bands like the Strokes - chosen as Best Album Of 2001 by Time, NME, Entertainment Weekly and yours truly at HK Magazine, but not even seeing one nomination. As for the tunes on the CD themselves, their pretty much even, a great tune like "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow" is followed by MJ's "You Rock My World", with that format dominating the whole collection as the album goes on. Pick it up if you're a fan of excellent mainstream music, but you can probably hear the majority of them if you switch on your radio

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good Mix
For a change there are actually some decent tunes on a Grammy CD. Most of the songs on the CD are more pop than rock, but that's okay. The live version of "Babylon" by David Gray is the best cut in my opinion, along with "Superman" by Five For Fighting and "Drops Of Jupiter" by Train. Even "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow" from the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou is a nice change of pace.
