Rating:  - A promising reminder that the talent lives on.
Just because an artist has passed, does not mean any more (good) music can be made by them, and Aaliyah proves theory. I Care 4 U is Aaliyah's first album in 2 years, as well as carrying a few of her hits (though only the most well known unfortunately). The album spans a whole career, ranging from the raw talent of a seed from when she launched her first album, to seeing her blossom into a fully grown flower in her last album, shortly before her death. Here's how the tracks rate:1.Back & Forth: This was (I believe) her first BIG single, and you can see that it's got a '90's thang' goin on in it. It's a great smooth jam that gets you in the mood for the rest of the album. 8/10 2.Are You That Somebody: For me, this song will always represent the marriage of great beats and a honey voice, and the fireworks you can create when it happens. From the day I first heard this to today, this song is still all that! 10/10 3.One In A Million: The main single from her second album, this song is like no other I know. While still maintaining all its street cred, it manages to reach out and touch you for the few minutes that it plays. It's not a loud and powerful ballad, its just mellow...wonderfully mellow. 9/10 4.I Care 4 U:Another smooth ballad, this time going for a more live and emotional sound. Written by Missy Elliott, it shows Aaliyah's modern voice, and the acrobatics she can do with it. It's not my type of song, but that doesn't mean its bad. 8/10 5.More Than A Woman:Aaliyah's title song, it was always going to be the one people remembered most. It's got that Friday vibe, and for that reason it just makes you want to get up and dance and party all night. Just as at home on the dancefloor as chilling at home, this song is great wherever, whenever. 10/10 6.Don't Know What To Tell Ya:This song has that Timbaland beat coming in again. It sounds a bit like 'Try Again', and follows along the same sort of vibe, as it sounds perfect along the whole 'Romeo Must Die' category. I love the whole chinese beat thing going on at the end. 8.5/10 7.Try Again: Sounds like the one above, except this one came first, and is very bump & grind if u know what I mean. Aaliyah's catchy lyrics about a relationship with the potencial to build, and Tim's perfect beats make this a classic hit. It sometimes gets a bit tiring sometimes though and for that reason if you want to like it, don't overplay it. 8/10 8.All I Need: This one tries out the acoustic sound a bit, and it works quite well. It goes for a smooth R&B feel, and all works fine until it reaches the chorus, which is a bit bland. It's good, but could have been so much better. 7/10 9.Miss You: This choon is chilled out and reminds me of a song called 'It's Whatever'. This song is so cool, but also quite scary considering the unintentional double-meaning of the love she sings about, and us coping with her death. 8/10 10.Don't Worry: I love this song because it makes me think about summer and lounging in the sun, and this playing on the radio as I do it. This song radiates the warmth and radiance that people come to love in Aaliyah's better songs. It's a great song, and Aaliyah's saying 'Don't worry about me', and with songs like this, why would we need to. 9.5/10 11.Come Over: Another song with so much sexual chemistry in it, and its smooth and you can groove to it at any time of the day. 8/10 12.Erika Kane:Aaliyah sings this songs quite well, and plays the narrative roll perfectly. It's about a prostitute well known for her ways in seducing ways and the damage she causes. It's a powerful song, and it still retains this smooth song. Chorus could have been a bit more imaginative though. 9/10 13.At Your Best: This one goes back to the old school, and her vocal ability in this is great.It a kind of cosy christmassy song, and it's pretty slow, but its good what's more, she was about 15 when she first sang it!8/10 14.Got To Give It Up (Remix): This is a new version of an old cover of Marvin Gaye's classic song, Aaliyah did. Aaliyah's first cover was OKAY, but this version really brings the track into its own, apart from maybe the annoying bit in the middle. I love this, but apparently Thunderpuss have remixed this as well so I would kill for the record company to release their version too. 8/10 The reason I gave this 4 stars and not five, near perfect though it is, is because there is SOOOOOO much the record company missed out on this album. There are many other fabulous songs released by Aaliyah such as 'Journey To The Past' or 'Four Page Letter' which deserve credit as well. Considering Mariah Carey's greatest hits package dished out all of her offerings, this should do the same, even with the amazing DVD to go with the album. Overall a great success, but I'm not sure it is as great a credit to Aaliyah as I hoped it would be.

It still stings that music industry lost such a talented and beautiful young such as Aaliyah luckily for her fans she left us with some great music and this CD illustrates the talent of this young lady. Reading a lot of the reviews most people think this is a greatest hits CD. Actually this Cd is more of an retrospective of an bright career. I do agree with a lot of the reviewers some of her best songs were left off such as Four Page Letter, If Your Girl Only Knew, Rock The Boat. However this cd still doesnt disappoint Aaliyah fans. This CD is still worth to have in your collection.Favorite songs of her hits. Back and Forth the song that started a bright career, Are You That Somebody one of my all time favorites classic Timbaland track. One In A Million my favorite Aaliyah song i still listen to this song a lot.
" Try Again" the smooth remake of Isley Brothers classic At Your Best", I Care 4U one of the most beautifully written songs i have heard in a long time. Favorite songs of newer material : " Miss You", " Come Over" a very nice duet with Tank. " All I Need Is You" Overall an solid CD that illustrates such an unbelievable talent that was taken away from us too soon. R.I.P Aaliyah you will always been in the hearts of your fans. Pick this up folks you wont be disappointed.

Aaliyah,I care 4 U is def. the best album ive heard all year. and will probally be the best throughout 2003.The DVD is also great. This is everything an aaliyah fan could ask for. This CD is amazing,the music the pictures the packaging. Simply beautiful. This album is already a HUGE hit. Number 3 album in the country (debut) selling over 280,000 albums in her first week,and is the number 1 hiphop and r&b album according to soundscan. There are 7 greatest hits and im sure you guys know them all. SO im gonna review the 6 AMAZING new songs and remix.
1.Dont know what to tell ya- AMAZING! a wicked track. shouldve been on"aaliyah) this will most likely be the second single,a great beat. 10/10 stars.
2.All i need- My personal favorite. an amazng midtempo song has a classy accoustic feel. Puts me in a zone.she sounds very smooth here. 10./10
3.Miss you-IM sure you have heard this song,the first single to this album. amazing! and is a hit single. A beautful ballad. and she sounds amazing on here. and the birds in the backround really complete the song. 10/10
4.Dont worry- Another great song. upbeat and a very dancable track.9/10
5.come over(feat tank)-Another great accoustic ballad. this song will def. grow on you. its really good,another group "changing faces" also did it,but alot of people perfer Liyahs version. This song is amazing. Aaliyahs good freind and labelmate tank sings backround here and does some adlibs. 9/10
6.Erica kane- WOW! can i say second fav. song. OMG this is too hot this song.this would be a hit single. the song has a good message. And ofcourse LiLi sounds explosive. this song really makes you think 10/10 7. got to give it up (remix)- a great new remix. brand new beat,they changed her voice a lil added her talking. good remix. 8/10 i wanna know,why didnt these songs make the last album!?!?
The dvd is great also. Ofcourse there are some great hits missing but im sure universal will release a complete greatest hits album has a final release of aaliyah. :(
this talented artist is missed soo much! She has the voice of an angel.
