Average Rating: Rating: - Hemisphere's unites the heart and mind in a powerful way Truely RUSH is the most talented band on the planet and this album showcases their talents and abilities. From the instrumental virtuoso of "La Villa Strangiato" to the epic tale of the continuing battle of heart & mind in the title track, this album ROCKS! Throw in the political overtures found in "The Trees" and the catchy, grungy, emotional tune "Circumstances" and you'll find an outstanding collection of songs that have passed the test of time well and will remain an example of "art rock" at it's finest. Enjoy! Rating: - Amazing! This album along with the musicianship is brilliant. I happened to find a Rush guitar tab site and I saw the arrangements for "Cygnus X-1-Book II, and they are unbelievable and almost symphonic. Why Alex Lifeson never got the credit as a supremely gifted guitarist is beyond me, I guess because the band weren't popular among the masses, neither were the band members. Anyway, this cd finishes what was started of the Cygnus X-1 story from "AFTK". It's 18 minutes of thought-provoking lyrics, and mind blowing musicianship, there isn't much more I can say about it, except BRILLIANT. "Circumstances", while short, is very complicated musically, yet somewhat catchy. "The Trees", is also brilliant and once again, almost orchestrally performed with the obvious lyrical references to racisim and equality. "La Villa Strangiato", excellent extended instrumental. I am at lost for words so please forgive me. Rush are probably my second favorite band. Besides Queen, Rush are another band that occupies a special place in my book, and this album along with MANY others that I own from them proves why. They are a great band, and I LOVE their music. Thanks. Rating: - The culminating masterpiece of the Rush catalogue Concept Album + Rush= MASTERPIECE. This is Rush's best cd, yes better than Moving Pictures! Why? Cygnus X-1 Book II THAT'S WHY! This is the most amazing cd that truly showcases Rush's virtuoso chops on their respective instruments. Lee's voice was in top banshee form and his bass lines and signature changes were incomparable. Peart's lyrics and drumming are stellar, and Lifeson (though rumored to be his most distasteful experience with Rush) shows why he is easily the most underrated and overlooked guitar player in the world today. Side one or Cygnus X-1 Book II is the most intricate, diverse, and amazing moment that Rush ever captured on tape. The rest of the album is not too shabby either with the concert standard the Trees, Circumstances, and La Villa Strangiato true Rush fans will easily recognize that this album has no flaws. Eventhough I own all of Rush's cds I always find myself coming back to Hemispheres as the defining work of this band still in progress. ...
