Average Rating: Rating: - Updated Review: It gets boring!! As much as I admire Jennifer Lopez, I'm afraid this CD gets old fast. The only one's worth listening to are "Love Don't Cost A Thing", "Play", "I'm Real (Murda Remix)" and "Secretly." Her voice gets annoying. She shouldn't try singing so hard. Just use it nice and lightly. I mean, look at how well Gloria Estifan used her decent voice when it was not exactly really spectacular. "I'm Gonna Be Alright" is another good upbeat song and the remix is just as good. The Rodney "DarkChild" Jenkins track "That's The Way" is boring and predictable. DarkChild hasn't produced a good song since '99. I'm not gonna even go into how bad the original "I'm Real" is. It really needed remixing big time...so call on Murda Inc! It sounds great! As for her next album she needs to work less on trying to sing like she has an extremely powerful voice (like christina has). Overall grade for J LO: C Rating: - Best J. Lo album ever! I'm a big fan of Jennifer Lopez and I think she's a very talented actress and singer. Sure, she may not have the best or most powerful voice ever, but she sure makes up for it in her music! J. LO is just a fun, uptempo dance album to listen to with your friends - perfect dance club music! This album is definitely better than the clean version because there are no cuts or bloops on the album. ON THE 6 had some good cuts (like "Let's Get Loud", "Waiting For Tonight" and "If You Had My Love"), but even I'll admit that it wasn't all that impressive. But J. LO the explicit lyrics most definitely impressed me! ON THE 6 was very heavy with ballads, I'll admit. But there are more upbeat dance tunes on J. LO. My favorite tracks on this CD are "Love Don't Cost A Thing", though I'm getting a little tired of it from the numerous radio plays; "Play"; "I'm Real"; "Ain't It Funny"; "We Gotta Talk"; "Carino"; "Secretly"; "Walking On The Sunshine", and especially the 'Murder Remix' of "I'm Real" with Ja Rule. There is so much variety on this album - there's a huge mix of pop, Latin, R&B, and even techno music. There are a few ballads - definitely less ballads than there were on ON THE 6. And most of it's uptempo dance music. I don't see how people cannot like this album - it's very fun, not really meant to be taken all that seriously. J. Lo might not ever win a Grammy for her music, but it's cool and hip all the same. Besides, the best artists and musicians never win Grammys, anyway (like the Backstreet Boys). So buy this album - it's a must have! Rating: - A bit of a filler, but don't get me wrong, most of its good. A lot of people criticise this album for having too many songs that aren't worth the money. I agree, but not on such a massive scale. Most of this album it's fine (mostly the first half) songs like 'Love Don't Cost A Thing' and 'Ain't It Funny' stick out as being the major smashes on the album, with their catchy lyrics and heavy beats, but don't overlook the rest of the album. Songs like 'Carino', 'Play' and 'That's Not Me' also have their moments, but mostly suffice as background music. A few of the songs on this album should have been overlooked completely (I'll let you decide them for yourself) but if you check out the last part of the album you'll find some slow and sexy jams like 'Come Over' which is my faivorite songs on the album, as it displays J Lo's true vocal talent. I also like the Murder Remix of I'm Real with Ja Rule because you can hear the Ja Rule touch through the song. Overall, try it out before you criticise it, and if at first you don't succeed, dust the album off and try again.
