Rating: - VERY good.....but..
I personally find this album Very well put together! the new vocals take some getting used to, Chris was smoother than Jason (the new vocalist). I find that I like "the moon is down" better, however don't let that sway you on purchasing this record, the band is going in a new direction led by Jason, the songs here have a more semi-screamy approach, opposed to the moon is down's smoother vocals. I feel that this is only the beginning! I like pretty much all of the songs on this album.
Rating: - One word ------excellent
I read a review of this album saying that "furtherseemsforever may not be the saviours of this genre of rock, but they are a welcomed refresher." "How to Start a Fire" is an excellent album from start to finish. I'm not too big on categorizing music, but this album takes rock(whatever form) to its purest form--real music. Solid lyrics accompanied by a great band---with unbelieveable rhythm change-ups. I enjoyed their first album "The Moon is Down." I thought that it was a great album as well. On both albums, the sound is outstanding, but this album has a harder sound to it. I really never thought anyone else could fill Chris Carraba shoes, but it has happened with J. Gleason. I hope that the unstoppable fame that hits these guys doesn't change the emotion the put into their music. I highly reccommend it.
Rating: - chris carrabba, please step aside.
wow. this cd is amazing!! i had an unofficial copy of it for about three weeks and i still couldn't wait for the actual cd to come out. i personally think jason gleason blows chris carrabba out of the water. don't get me wrong, i still like chris carrabba. i just like jason gleason better. chris carrabba wasn't in the band for very long, so now FSF is finally starting to come together as a band and musicians, and it's starting with this album. i definitely like it better than "the moon is down." and "the moon is down" was an excellent album as well. every song is good with my favorites being "the sound," "the deep," and "insincerity as an artform." but they all hold their own for different reasons. this is the most played cd that i own right now. it goes with me everywhere and i just can't get enough. buy it, and you'll see why.
