Rating: - Low Key Songbird makes it Big Time!
Game of Love sung by Arizona native Michelle Branch with a legendary CarlosSantana accompanying instumental. This has brought this songbird to instant stardom. I'm not a Santana fan, but this one really kicks it. Branch has caught the attention of many famous folks like Liza Minnelli. But Branch claims she's too shy to sing with her established peers. This low key phenom loves playing for the little crowds.
Her unspoiled nature and dynamite vocals is a welcomed sight to those looking for something different and inspirational. Her persona is a mixture of Natalie Merchant and Christian artist Jennifer Knapp in a little higher key. From her debut album "You Get Me," despite what her lyrics say 'I'm a little out of tune.' On the contrary, this one's definitely in tune! Other ones to listen to is 'Everywhere' and 'All You Wanted.'
If you want something different from the old fad stuff and not all the hype but good lyrics and beautiful vocals give this a try. It's a mix of a little hip-hop & pop, great acoustics, catchy tunes. Branch shines in her own little quite garden in this crazy world and can still dazzle mainstream listeners. She got my vote to add to my good music collection.
Rating: - Slammin'
Buy this for the two tracks you can't get on Shaman. "Come To My World" is a smoking pop/rock/latin track with great guitars and excellent vocals by Andy Vargas. The sonic quality is huge and sparkling compared to some of the tracks on Shaman. "Curacion" is a melodic treat with lush synthesizers and some of Santana's best playing ever. How these two didn't get on the album itself I'll never know....
Rating: - Not too shabby
As a big fan of Michelle Branch, I was very excited when this song came out. She is an outstanding singer, songwriter, and guitar player. Although I do not like this song as much as others on her CD, it was okay. My main problem with it was that I could not hear much of Santana's guitar playing behind her lyrics and the rest of the music, and that was disappointing. After all, it is his CD. If you are a really big fan of Santana, I wouldn't suggest this CD. This is definetly not his best song. His older CD, Supernatural, had more impressive guitar playing then this track. I felt that this song was more about Branch and her singing. Otherwise, I loved this song and enjoyed listening to it. I do recommend this CD, despite the fact the guitar isn't as audible as it should be. I would buy this single more for Branch's singing then Santana and his guitar, even if I wasn't a Branch fan. This was the only main flaw I could find in this song.
