Average Rating: Rating: - Better as a Sample of Music Than the Movie's Personality If you have read my review of the movie, you are probably going to say: This person does not like this soundtrack just because he does not like the movie. He is messed up. But that is not true. My biggest complaint is that the soundtrack is not very consistent with the movie. The songs in the movie work better for the moment that they occur in the movie, and in some cases, only the mood of the music reflects the current situation. And from listening to this collection, it is hard for me to figure out why songs such as "Up Around the Bend;" "Spill the Wine;" "Spirit in the Sky;" and "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" were put into the movie. But nevertheless, this is still a very interesting sampler of the past several years of music before 1971, the date where the movie is set. It is actually nice to hear all of the songs from this soundtrack here, especially "Peace Train;" "Act Naturally;" "Express Yourself;" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (even if the soundtrack is a little inaccurate; "Long Cool Woman" did not come out on a Hollies album until that December, which occurs after the events of the song's placement). So, who should buy this album? Well, even though this is a pretty good sampler of late 60s-early 70s music, this soundtrack really belongs only to fans of the movie. And judging from their reception of the movie, there are quite a number of fans. Rating: - Bringing it all back... Wow. I grew up a little after this era in Northern California where racism wasn't an issue. This was a wonderful historically accurate movie with an amazing soundtrack! After watching the movie (which is also a 5) we ordered the soundtrack and now cannot help dancing and singing along with the great tunes selected for the CD. This is a collection that the whole family can enjoy and when you listen to it, you just feel good. "Peace Train" could not be more appropriate as well as "Spirit in the Sky". Very fun and upbeat CD. I bought one for my brother-in-law so he could sing along with "Act Naturally" at his birthday party. This is a must have for your collection. Rating: - Remember the Titans Soundtrack has all the good oldies This is a great sing-along CD especially right after you've won some sort of game. Ain't No Mountain High Enough is an awesome song,but there are also other good hits such as Up Around the Bend by CCR and Na Na Na Na Kiss him Good-bye. This CD is a lot of fun and makes you remember some of the funnier scenes from the movie.
