Average Rating: Rating: - A Fanciful Flight After watching this wonderful movie, I knew I have to get the Soundtrack. Most of the music is whimsical and cheerful. It matches the movie perfectly, enhancing the romantic fairytale theme. There are quite a few instruments that you don't hear often in orchestral compositions. Who knew that an accordion and banjo could make beautiful music together? Some pieces are fast paced, a whirling dervish kind of speed. The rhythm of the accordion, violin, and banjo together is captivating, almost like Cique de Solie. The music just makes you want to spread open your arms and spin in time with the uplifting tempo; it just throws you back to your childhood days of carefreeness and wonderment. And there are times like on track 4 & 9, moving piano sections, which are wistful and thought-provoking, sought of like quietly sitting on a park bench on a rainy day and watching each drop of rain fall to the ground. Basically pondering music, but beautiful all the same. It's quite a romp, from accordions to banjos to guitars to xylophones to Violin. Yann Tiernan has done a wonderful job with composing and blending all of the sounds. He weaves such a magical spell. Rating: - Charming I know nothing of the language of music to faithfully describe the pieces on this soundtrack. I do, however,love soundtracks and this one faithfully transcribes the happy champaigne-bubbly feeling of the movie and its actress, Tatou,into the poetry of sound. Each track blends well with the next offering the listener an entire CD of Parisian quarkiness and playful pleasure. Amelie's waltz makes me want to stand up and whirl while the rest urges me to take up accordian playing and wind out these musical dreams like a happy organ grinder on a street corner. If you want to recapture the happy charming feel of the movie, do, by all means, by the soundtrack, a bottle of good French wine and a crusty loaf---ENJOY! Rating: - A spectacular soundtrack! I have had this CD for months now, and I can't stop listening to it. I am a very big fan of movie soundtracks and scores, and I definitely think the Amelie soundtrack is one of the best I've heard. Yann Tiersen does a good job of meshing the whimsical, upbeat tones together. In the past, I didn't think I liked French-sounding music, but after listening to these songs, I proved myself wrong. The accordions are very cute and definitely mix into the music well, with each song sounding very unique. But don't think that the soundtrack is all-accordion. The songs also have a beautiful classical undertone. My favorite songs were the various versions of "La Valse D'Amelie", track 4, and also the first two tracks. Listening to the beautiful violins and pianos in these songs made me wish that I could play them. Probably the only track I didn't enjoy was "La Redecouverte", but the 19 other songs more than make up for it. The melodies on this CD will surely capture your ears and your heart.
