Average Rating: Rating: - Was this cd necessary? Great! Yet another "compilation" of the same songs from Chronicles and the Retrospective cds. I guess this is a "best of" the previous "best of's". There really is no reason to buy this cd if you already have Chronicles or Retrospective. Wait a minute...There's a bonus dvd in there. And it has...5 songs from the Chronicles dvd! Horray! Being a die-hard Rush fan, I just don't understand why this is being released. The dvd should have at least had some of the videos that came out after Chronicles. The only reason anybody should buy this cd is if you don't already own Chronicles or Retrospective. If you've never heard Rush before and you're curious, then yes, this cd would be the perfect one. In that aspect, I give it 5 stars. It has all their hits. Rating: - Why NOT? So many people are slamming Rush for releasing this cd. Why not release the cd? There is more musical talent in any one of these songs (you pick the song) than 99% of the [stuff] that gets released in this day and age as "music." Sure, you can find these songs on other cd's by Rush, and maybe it's just another rehash of Chronicles and Retrospective, but for the price, I'll take this cd over anything that's recently been released based upon the MUSIC on the cd. It used to be important that the MUSIC was great. Now the criticism focuses on commercialization and whether the band "should" have released such a cd. Who are we to tell a band what to release? Notice how no one will ever say that the MUSIC by Rush is bad. For that reason, if you like the songs, buy the cd. In and of itself, it's a great compilation of Rush songs. Why not? Rating: - Why? This album has tracks which can be found on at least two other Rush retrospectives: "Chronicles" and the two "Retrospective" disks. And all of the videos on the DVD can be found on the "Chronicles" VHS or DVD. I would recommend keeping your money and buying a Rush gold disk or two...
