That said, we love our hoop and anticipate getting many, many, years use from a well put together, grow with your kid(s), toy. I favor toys that get and keep my kids active and outdoors! This is a terrific toy for playing alone or in groups of any size. It's portability is fabulous for extending it's play life; in the lawn, the driveway, inside the house, in the garage. The grow with your kid feature just adds new and more challenging dimension to an all around winner of a activity toy! The "put together" was a challenge. You're going to need somebody with leverage and brawn. The backboard part was tricky too-be sure to read the directions and look carefully at the parts and pictures. My husband likes to joke that a good form of birth control should be to require "non-parents" to put together all sorts of kid toys! Rating: - My Son is 18 months old and.... Ok, I realize that the age range is 3 years and up for this product, and I bought this for my son for Christmas when he was just 16 months old, thinking maybe he would grow into it. Well it took him only a matter of days to grow into it. Now at 18 months, it is his favorite toy by far. I have it set at 3 feet, and he has no problems putting the ball through the hoop, after I show him how. Yes, it was a little awkward to put together, especially at 1am on Christmas morning, I even had to stand on a chair to slide the backbaord in, but it was worth it. It really didn't take me long to put together, but for the permanent post, it worked best if you applied some dish soap on it for lubrication. Rating: - A tip on putting it together Ok, I have to be honest with you. I was excited about giving my almost two year old his first basketball goal for Christmas, but some of the comments in the reviews about the difficulty of putting the Grow to Pro together intimidated me a little. As new parents (with a 22 month old and a six week old), my wife convinced me that part of the fun of Christmas Eve is waiting until the kids go to bed to put together the toys. I started working at 11:30 and by midnight, I had all but one piece put together. Unfortunately, I worked on the last piece (the permanent post) for another half hour with no success. Then on Christmas Day, we decided to use a hairdryer (on high heat) to cause the sticking points in the post to go in a little smoother. Within a minute or so of heating the bottom of the post, it slid right it. The basketball set is great, and I'm looking forward to years of enjoyment - who knows, maybe my son will like it too!
