Average Rating:
Rating: - Easy to learn and a riot to play
This game is easy to learn and best when played with 5 people or more. You can play with 4 but 8 is even more fun!!! It's fast paced with relatively short "rounds" where each person at the table gets to "Be the Judge"... so, it is NEVER boring. The more I've played it with my friends and family (I believe they recommend 10 yrs old and up) I've learned to "play to the Judge." Play different cards depending on who is the Judge for this hand! I've already gotten this game for a few birthdays and the rest of my friends get this for Christmas... I started having "Game Night" again because of Apples to Apples.
Rating: - Get some friends and open the box!
This game is the perfect party game. The game is supposed to be played until someone gets 5 "green apples". But winning isn't the fun part of this game, playing is. The Judge draws a green card (being the judge goes around the table) with a verb on it. Then the players play a red apple card (noun)from their hand that would match the verb. You have to choose quickly because the last card played doesn't count. The judge decides which red card is most like the green card, and the winner gets the green card. For a party where other things are going on and people are coming and going all the time, this is the perfect game.
Rating: - My current favorite game--try some alternate rules!
Everyone is skeptical when you first pull out this game. But after the first hand, everyone is hooked! It is hard to explain if you haven't played it, but the game is extremely entertaining and is guaranteed to have everyone in stitches in minutes! It also provides an excellent opportunity to get to know your friends and family better, since "playing to the judge" can be such an important part of the game. Are you the sort of person who would choose "The Spanish Inquisition" over "Groucho Marx" for the word "zany?" Which is colder--"An Iceberg" or "My Family?"Here are a few varieties to the game that I recommend: * Apples to Apples as a description of personality: once you have won a few rounds you start to collect Green Apples. Do they reflect your personality? What would it say about you if you won "Smooth," "Warm," and "Rough?" * Skip the time limits unless you have trouble with slowpokes! * We play that once a game each player may choose to discard all of his or her Red Apples and draw a new hand, since they tend to get "stale" later in the game. * Don't know the judge very well? Ask him or her to read the Green Apple out loud--you can learn a lot from tone of voice! If you buy this game, you might as well buy five because you will want to give them away as gifts!
