Average Rating: Rating: - nightmares...monsters?? I was looking SO forward to getting this video for my 20-month old, because he adores his "moon" book (the Goodnight Moon book). We read it almost every single night. And since we sometimes watch a video before we go to bed, I thought the Goodnight Moon video would be perfect. The "Goodnight Moon" portion was excellect, very sweet, very calming. And, I will say much of the other parts were nice too. But the "Nightmare in my Closet" story was the kicker. It talks of a little boy and this monster in his closet, that is ugly, tall and then comes into his bed with the little boy. Yes, the monster is friendly, but the images of a monster, period, before a little one goes to sleep could be disturbing. Now, my toddler is too young to speak of monsters, bad dreams, or scary things, but I'm afraid this story could make him start having bad dreams and get scared at an early age. Overall, not a very pleasing bedtime choice. Now I have decided I will just fast forward through that story in the video, or, simply just stick to READING our favorite book!! Rating: - Sweet, beautifully done video This is one of my favorite videos belonging to my kids (ages 4 and 2). I was more than happy to sit and watch this video with them every time they've wanted to watch it dropping whatever it is I was doing at the time! The kids in the video are so sweet, funny and insightful and the animation is creative and wonderful! It's a real treat to see Goodnight Moon come to life and the other selections (i.e. Tar Beach, Nightmare In My Closet) are perfect choices and new favorites. The star cast of Susan Sarandon, Billy Crystal, Lauryn Hill, etc. is an added bonus. I can't recommend this video enough. A definite bedtime -- or anytime treat! Rating: - A Delightful Bedtime Ritual Our 2yo really likes this video and asks for it frequently as part of her bedtime ritual. After viewing it a few times, she is now a bit bored with the children's interviews but is still intrigued by the stories and songs. Although the graphics/animations are fairly similar throughout, there are simply not enough videos of this quality around. Momma and Daddy enjoy this video, also. More stories and songs, less interviews!
