Rating: - A Wonderful Body Building Documentary
I managed to get a *NEW* copy of this movie yesterday. Don't expect to watch some awing, breathless, unforgettable, and the best of all Arnold movies. But what you can expect is a nice documentary about how Arnold and other competitors go through the Mr.Olympia Bodybuilding contest. I found it to truly be interesting for a documentary, but also let me say that I am a big Arnold Schwarzenegger fan. I wouldn't say that it worth [money]used, but I would say that if you can get a nice deal(like me), then this is a nice addition to your collection. Arnold throws some of his humor in, and I feel that I learned more about bodybuilding in this movie, than I knew before I turned it on. If anyone here has Cinemax, then right now, the special 25th anniversary edition of Pumping Iron is on cinemax this month. It is a special edition and UNCUT! Get your VCR ready! Some footage in this isn't availabe in the normal version. Go to [website]to find out when it will be on. Remember that the times will be displayed in eastern I think. Good Luck!
Rating: - It is the spirit of BODYBUILDING.
I bought the Pumping Iron back in 1987 when I started bodybuilding at 16 years of age and from that time all the heros of that movie were an insperation and motivation in my life not only in bodybuilding. Arnold, Franco Columbo, Lou Veregno, Serge nubret, dany padilla, mike katz, robby robinson, Ed Corney, Ken Waller and every body that appeared in that movie were my heros until know I still cry when I see this movie, bodybuilding was at it's best and all bodybuilders were artists too not like the todays budybuilders and Judges, the only thing that matters to them is size and they forgot the buity of the sport of bodybuilding. THIS VIDEO IS A MUST FOR EVERY BODYBUILDER AND EVERY ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER FAN OR ANYONE LOKING FOR INSPARATION IN ANY SPORT OR IN HIS LIFE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS MOVIE IN DVD.
Rating: - Documenting Arnold was a star before Arnold was a star
You will never get a better chance to see a movie star in embryonic form than watching 28-year old Austrian body builder Arnold Schwarzenegger in this 1976 documentary about bodybuilding. Arnold is "Pumping Iron" to win his sixth straight Mr. Olympia title and the future Terminator steals the spotlight from his competitors (including Lou Ferrigno in his pre-Incredible Hulk days) with relative ease. Directors George Butler and Robert Fiore capture the world of competitive bodybuilding on film, but it is Arnold who makes it all seem like such a noble effort. With his natural charm and his single-minded determination, it is easy in retrospect to see why he became such a box officer star. This is a man who has always been comfortable with who he is and what he is doing. Even if you find the sight of muscular men covered in oil to be somewhat disquieting (I am pleading guilty here), you will find this look at their world to be both fascinating and insightful.
